Week Nineteen Daily Journal

Friday, February 4

St. Anton, Austria

We skied back in St. Anton today, and then apres skied at the Krazy Kanguruh with some new friends. Then we went to the Mooser. Both bars were packed with people dancing in their ski clothes and ski boots! After, we had to ski down in the pitch black which was scary and I fell 100 times. That night was the final gala dinner at the Shwarzer Adler.

Saturday, February 5

Munich, Germany

We had a long, trafficy drive back to Munich. We parked in town and walked around the Marionplatz where there was a huge anti-war rally. We had lunch/dinner at the famous Hofbrau House before driving to the Holiday Inn Express by the airport and then returning the rental car.

Heading to the pub

We flew to London in the afternoon and took the tube to Darren and Daniela's apartment in Notting Hill. It was great to see Daniela (Darren was in Boston for work) and to be in an apartment again, wallowing on the couch, watching tv, doing laundry. We went to a local pub for a pint and then went home and made some superbowl food. Because of the time difference, though, the game started really late.  I didn't watch any of it and Dave and Daniela fell asleep in the first half.

Bruschetta and salad

We didn't leave the apartment at all today except to take a walk over to the supermarket. Dave cooked a big pot of beef, mushroom and barley soup and mushroom bruschetta for dinner and Daniela and i made a pretty salad. Then we watched Get Him to the Greek.

Portobello Road

Darren arrived on the red-eye so we all went out to a big brunch on Portobello Road. Then Dave and I walked around Kensington Gardens (princess Diana used to live in the palace) and checked out the Orangery. Later we went to Talia's house to see Talia, Suri, newborn Mila, and Sharon. Poor Dave was too sick to go. We had a delicious Italian dinner that night.

Wednesday, February 9

London, UK

I ran some errands and tried to find some sick-person food for Dave. After searching for an hour i was unable to find any basic, plain chicken noodle type soup. Turns out Darren had the same problem when Daniela was sick! Suri and Sharon came over for a little while to play, and then we headed off to the airport for our overnight flight on Kingfisher Air to New Delhi!

Thursday, February 10

New Delhi, India

Hmm... what's wrong with this crosswalk?
We were exhausted when we landed - thankfully we had arranged for the hotel to send someone to pick us up. When we finally arrived at the K One One Guesthouse (in the Jangpura Extension area) there was some confusion over our reservation but eventually it got cleared up and we were shown to our room (on the top floor, built on the roof, and a pretty nice room but we later learned the worst of the 4 rooms). Dave passed out immediately and I eventually did too. When we woke up the man at the guesthouse cooked us a delicious dinner - curry chicken, dal, eggplant, rice and parathas. First Indian meal - yum!
